Hi, I’m Katie Bloom.
I’m a social worker with a Master’s from Nebraska Wesleyan University. I started my career in inpatient psychiatric care. That experience shaped a lot of how I show up for my clients today. It taught me that people don’t need perfection; They need connection, consistency, and someone who really listens. I’m big on building genuine relationships in therapy and keeping things grounded, honest, and comfortable. As a social worker, my approach to therapy also acknowledges the environment and the impact of outside forces on the client’s life. Outside of work, you can find me with my two corgis, sewing, or reading a fantasy novel about dragons or faeries.
My Specialties
Trauma
I work with clients from all backgrounds who have experienced a wide range of trauma. I approach trauma work with care, collaboration, and flexibility, meeting each person where they are in their healing process. I draw from evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). My goal is to create a steady, supportive space where clients can process what they’ve been through and begin to feel more grounded and connected to themselves again.
Grief
I have a strong passion for supporting individuals through grief. Grief can show up in many forms—not only after the loss of a loved one, but also through experiences like losing a pet, a job, a relationship, or even a sense of identity or stability. I approach grief work with care and curiosity, creating space for people to move through their experience in their own way and at their own pace. My goal is to help clients feel less alone in what they’re carrying, and to support them as they rebuild meaning and connection in their lives.
Children/Adolescents
I also enjoy working with children and teens, helping them navigate big emotions, life transitions, and challenges in ways that feel supportive and developmentally appropriate. I focus on building trust and connection first, knowing that relationships are often the foundation for meaningful change at this age. My approach is collaborative and flexible, and I work to create a space where young clients feel safe, understood, and empowered.
